Their Love Story

A Love Story Written in the Heart of Portharcourt

Not every love story announces itself. Some begin with one person quietly noticing long before the other one looks up.

They both came from Lagos. Same city, same faith, same season of life. Yet their paths never crossed until Uniport decided otherwise.

It started at N.U.Y.O.S — the National Union of Yoruba Students, Uniport Chapter. In the middle of culture, laughter and campus energy, he saw her. She didn't know it yet. But he did. Something shifted in him that day, and he filed it quietly in his heart.

Then came convocation. A new auditorium, opened for the first time at Uniport. He showed up suited and ready. She walked in wearing a gorgeous gown — and this time, she felt it. He had moved close enough that love reached her nose before her eyes even found him. And when she finally looked up, there he was. The one who had already been noticing her.

For her, it felt like discovery. For him, it felt like arrival.

Their love grew from there — calm, certain, and soul-deep. Built on friendship, faith, and the quiet knowing that some people are simply meant.

Then came the night he cleared an entire cinema. Just for her. Their story played on the screen — every memory, every moment, every reason. And when it went quiet, he didn't. He got down on one knee and asked the question their whole journey had been building toward.

She said yes before the tears finished falling.

Of course, no Uniport love story is complete without the anthem. "Unique! Unique! Unique! Uniport!" The chorus? Everybody full voice, full chest, full conviction. The stanza? Lips moving, heads nodding, eyes searching like the lyrics are loading on a slow network. Yet every single time, the chorus pulls everyone back together.

That is Uniport. And that is this love — a reunion that keeps happening, no matter the distance between the verses.

Tamarawomoemi. Ayobami. He noticed her first. She felt him before she saw him. And when the time was right, he gave her a cinema, a ring, and a forever.

“Tama found his Ayo — and in finding her, he found his joy, his home, his forever.”
